The well-marked paths in Marlengo/Marling are as varied as the landscape itself – so the journey becomes the destination. On a hiking holiday near Merano/Meran, the focus is on active relaxation in unspoilt nature.

Marlinger Waalweg

The Marlinger Waalweg stretches over 12 kilometres and is South Tyrol’s longest Waalweg. It leads from the Töll bridge to Lana an der Etsch and offers impressive panoramic views of the mountains and the Merano basin. The good public transport connections allow hikers to do without their car.

The Merano Waalrunde is also highly recommended. This easy hike, which is accessible all year round, connects eleven irrigation channels in South Tyrol. The irrigation channels were once used to irrigate the fields and some of them date back to the 12th century.

Vigiljoch and Marlinger Berg

A hiking holiday in Merano/Meran also offers many opportunities for experienced mountaineers. A cable car connects the valley with the Vigiljoch mountain station at 1,438 metres, from where numerous hiking trails start. The circular hike to St. Vigilius Church and the Schwarze Lacke via panoramic trail no. 7 back to the mountain station is very popular. The Vigiljoch can also be reached on foot via challenging routes, including the Jochweg, the Flatschersteig and the Ochsentod-Steig. Another challenging but rewarding option is the six-hour mountain tour from the mountain station of the Vigiljoch chairlift to the 2607 m high Naturnser Hochwart.

Merano High Mountain Trail

The Merano High Mountain Trail is one of the most beautiful circular hiking trails in the Alps. In five to eight daily stages, experienced mountaineers hike almost 100 kilometres through the Texel Group Nature Park, accompanied by views of the mountain landscape of the Merano region, the Vinschgau Valley and, on a clear day, the Dolomites and the Ortler massif.

While the southern section leads through Mediterranean vegetation, the northern section takes hikers through high Alpine mountain landscapes.

Ultental Valley

The Ultental Valley holiday paradise stretches from the Stelvio National Park to Lana. Plenty of space for the most beautiful natural idyll and endless relaxation. Expressed in figures, the valley is 40 kilometres long. That’s forty kilometres of dense forests, colourful flower meadows and charming streams. It is particularly famous for its magnificent alpine meadows and high mountain pastures. Especially on the south-facing mountain slopes, there is often a whole chain of ancient mountain farms.
Mountaineers and hikers will find a wide range of hikes and excursions to mountain lakes and peaks.

We look forward to your visit!
